What awesome things have we achieved together?

Through the Wellington Recycling Challenge, tamariki and families have done some truly amazing things:

  • Learned how to recycle better: Tamariki and parents discovered what goes in which bin and why recycling helps our planet.
  • Made recycling fun!: Taking photos turned everyday recycling into something exciting to share and celebrate.
  • Worked together as families and schools: Tamariki, parents and teachers teamed up, talking about recycling at home and at school.
  • Helped care for Papatūānuku (our Earth): Every recycled item helped reduce rubbish and protect our environment.
  • Showed that small actions matter: The challenge proved that when everyone helps - even in small ways - we can make a big difference.

Cool things that happened because of the challenge

Because of the Wellington Recycling Challenge, some really awesome things took place:

  • So many families got involved: Tamariki shared photos of their recycling at home and school, showing just how many people were taking part.
  • Recycling conversations spread: Tamariki started reminding adults which bin to use, and recycling became a regular topic in classrooms and at the dinner table.
  • Better recycling habits formed: People became more confident about recycling correctly and started thinking more about reducing waste.
  • A positive ripple effect: Families told others about the challenge, helping the message reach even more people across Wellington.

These small actions added up to real change and showed that when tamariki and adults work together, we can make a big difference 💚
